Robert W. Connell

Robert W. Connell is a 1979 graduate of Marquette Law School. He earned his undergraduate degree from Marquette University in 1976. Mr. Connell has more than 30 years of experience in legal service. His practice areas include civil litigation, worker's compensation, real estate, probate, estate planning, contract law, and corporate work.

Mr. Connell is a member of the State Bar of Wisconsin, the American Bar Association, Waukesha County Bar Association, Waukesha County Estate Planning Council, and the Defense Research Institute.

Christine K. Nelson, Of Counsel

Christine K. Nelson is a 1979 graduate of Marquette University Law School. She earned her undergraduate degree from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee in 1976, magna cum laude. Ms. Nelson is a founder of Nelson, Connell, Tallmadge & Slein and has been practicing law for more than 35 years with an emphasis on professional liability defense and worker's compensation. Her recent focus has been in defense of legal malpractice claims, attorney discipline, insurance agents and broker's claims as well as worker's compensation.

Ms. Nelson is a frequent lecturer to professional associations' members and is the author of a number of articles dealing with her areas of practice.

Ms. Nelson previously served as director, legislative chair, program chair, treasurer, president and chair of the board for the Civil Trial Counsel of Wisconsin (now Wisconsin Defense Counsel). She has served as chair of the State Bar of Wisconsin Committee for the Arbitration of Fee Disputes. In July 2016, Ms Nelson was honored as one of The Wisconsin Law Journal's Women in the Law.

Mark S. Nelson

Mark S. Nelson received his Juris Doctorate from Marquette University Law School in 1981 and earned a Master of Science from the University of Southern California. Mr. Nelson also served in the US Marine Corps attaining the rank of Captain before leaving the service. He practices in areas of complex civil litigation, insurance defense and professional liability defense.

Mr. Nelson is a member of the State Bar of Wisconsin. He is an alderman on the Brookfield City Council and currently serves as its president.

John J. Slein

John J. Slein is a 1984 graduate of Hamline University School of Law, where he served as managing editor of the Hamline Law Review. He is Martindale-Hubbell AV rated and is certified by the National Board of Trial Advocacy as a Civil Trial Specialist (certified in 1999).

Mr. Slein is a member of the Wisconsin Defense Counsel (WDC), a statewide organization of over 500 attorneys representing defendants in civil litigation. He served as president of WDC in 2007, and continues to be involved in many of the organization's legislative activities.

Mr. Slein represents insurance agents and real estate brokers in civil lawsuits involving allegations of negligence and misrepresentation. He also handles insurance coverage disputes and general tort liability defense. He has lectured frequently on these subjects and served previously as an insurance intermediary continuing education instructor.
